The most popular messaging application is WhatsApp. If you're changing smartphones and want to keep all of your old WhatsApp data, you can back up your chats and restore them at any time.

Tap More options > Settings > Chats > Chat backup in the WhatsApp application.

Backup your WhatsApp conversation history

Google Drive may be used to backup and restore WhatsApp messages to a new Android smartphone. You may save both the messages and the media you've sent and received (pictures and videos). Follow instructions below to save your WhatsApp chat history.

Restore WhatsApp Chat History

The phone number and Google account used to generate WhatsApp backups are linked. Your WhatsApp backups must be updated on a regular basis; backups that haven't been updated in over a year will be deleted immediately from Google Drive. As a result, you should back up your WhatsApp data on a regular basis to avoid losing any backups. Follow the steps outlined below to recover your WhatsApp data.

  1. WhatsApp is available for download through the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.
  2. Verify your WhatsApp phone number.
  3. Tap Restore when requested during setup.
  4. Before hitting Next, ait for the WhatsApp backup to complete.
Before moving on to media, the App will first restore all of your chats, which may take some time. Keep in mind that if you use the same Google account to create another Google Drive backup, the previous one will be overwritten, and there is no way to restore an older Google Drive backup.
